Care Instructions

Keeping your feeder clean creates a healthy, happy spot for hummingbirds and more crystal-clear bird snaps for you.

We recommend washing the feeder with warm water and some mild soap. Use a bottle brush to get into the tiny nooks and don’t forget to give the ports a good swipe, too—this is where mold often likes to hide.

Next, sanitize with either a solution made of 90% water and 10% bleach or a 50/50 mix of water and vinegar.

Use a soft cloth or towel to carefully dry—taking extra care near the camera to avoid scratches.

DIY Hummingbird Nectar Recipe*

The best nectar mirrors the sugar concentration found in the flowers that hummingbirds prefer, with the sugar making up about 20-25% of the solution. Here’s a standard recipe:

Ingredients:

• 1 part white granulated sugar
• 4 parts water (preferably filtered or boiled and cooled)

Instructions:

1. Mix sugar and water until the sugar dissolves.
2. Do not add red food coloring—it's unnecessary and may be harmful.
3. Pour the mixture into a clean feeder.
4. Store any unused nectar in the refrigerator for up to a week.
